Terms and conditions
Last updated 10 September 2026
This is a demonstration website. Brackenwynd Hair Studio is a fictional business created by Tempany Web Studios. No appointment made here is real, no deposit is ever taken, and no money changes hands. The terms below are written the way a real salon’s would be.
1. A request is a request
Sending the form tells us what you are after. It is not a confirmed booking. We read every request and text back to confirm, usually within a couple of hours while we are open and always by the next working morning. The appointment exists once you have replied. If you have not heard from us by the end of the next working day, phone 01632 960 118 rather than assume you are in the diary.
2. Cancelling and changing
- More than 24 hours’ notice: no charge, no questions. A text is enough.
- Less than 24 hours: if we cannot fill the slot we may ask for 50% of the price before we book you in again.
- Not turning up: we ask for 50% of the price, or keep the deposit, before your next booking.
Life happens. Childcare falls through, cars do not start, people get ill. Tell us and we will be reasonable. It is the silence that costs us the chair.
3. Running late
Up to 15 minutes late and we will do our best, though we may shorten the appointment so the person after you is not held up. More than 15 and we may have to rebook you, and it counts as a late cancellation. If we are running late we tell you as soon as we know, and if we keep you waiting more than 15 minutes you can rebook at no charge.
4. Deposits on colour
Colour appointments over two hours take a £20 deposit when we confirm. It comes straight off the bill on the day. Cancel with more than 24 hours’ notice and it moves to the new appointment or comes back in full, whichever you prefer. A three-hour balayage nobody turns up for is most of a stylist’s afternoon, which is the whole reason the deposit exists.
5. Skin tests. 48 hours, no exceptions
If you have never had colour with us we carry out a skin test at least 48 hours beforehand. Five minutes, free, walk in any time we are open. We also need a fresh one if it has been over six months since your last colour with us, or if you have had a reaction to a hair product, a tattoo or henna since.
This comes from the colour manufacturers and our insurers, not from us. Without a skin test we cannot colour your hair, and the appointment counts as a late cancellation. Tell us beforehand if you are pregnant, have a scalp condition, or have ever reacted to hair dye.
6. Children in the salon
Children are welcome. There is room for a buggy at the front and a box of books under the waiting bench.
- Under-16s need a parent or guardian in the salon for the whole appointment.
- We do not colour, bleach or perm the hair of anyone under 16.
- Children who are not being cut stay in the waiting area rather than by the chairs. There are hot tools and open scissors at chair height.
- First haircuts are 30 minutes, and you get the keepsake curl in an envelope.
7. Prices
Every price on this site is what you pay. Where it says “from”, it varies with how long or thick your hair is and how much product a colour takes. You get the number at the consultation, before anything starts, never at the till afterwards. Prices were last reviewed in September 2026 and we tell you before they change. Cash, card and Apple Pay.
8. If you are not happy
Tell us within seven days and come back in so we can look at it. If it is our doing we put it right at no charge. We would far rather fix it than have you living with hair you do not like. Colour that has been altered at home afterwards is the one thing we cannot take responsibility for.
9. Gift vouchers
Valid 12 months from issue, usable against any service, not exchangeable for cash, not replaceable if lost.
10. About this website
We keep everything here accurate and current but cannot promise it is free of errors, and the availability behaviour in the request form is illustrative in this demonstration. The site links out to tempanywebstudios.co.uk, and we are not responsible for its content. How we handle your information is in the privacy policy. These terms are governed by Scots law.
